The Biggest Decision in Aircon Buying
Walk into any appliance store and you'll be faced with two price points: a non-inverter unit at ₱15,000–₱22,000, or an inverter unit at ₱28,000–₱50,000. The salesperson will tell you to get the inverter. But should you?
The honest answer: it depends on how long you use it per day.
How They're Different
Non-inverter: The compressor runs at full power or not at all. When the room reaches the set temperature, it turns off. When it warms up, it turns on again at full blast. This constant on-off cycle wastes energy.
Inverter: The compressor never fully stops. Instead, it slows down or speeds up to maintain the temperature. Like cruise control vs. stop-and-go traffic — much more efficient.
The Electricity Math
A 1.5HP inverter uses roughly 600–900W at full load, dropping to 150–300W at maintenance mode.
A 1.5HP non-inverter uses 1,200–1,500W every time it cycles on.
